25/02- 05/03
First Day
Went to school and got briefed before embarking on our 9hour long bus ride to Lumut, Malaysia. Spent the bus ride listening to music/sleeping/eating/cheering/singing etc. Reached the OBM campus at about 7plus, and got separated into our watches and we were introduced to our instructors. I was in BERAMBAN! Along with Jolene, Lynn, Limeng, James, Denie, Caleb, Crystal, Sau Yee, Jonathan, Chuming, Yifan, Melvin, Huang Can, Menglin, Denise, and Huifen. (Omg I am the coolest I remember everyone!!) Our instructor was Nazim, the Big Friendly Giant (: Beramban and another watch- Ledang were put together into Group 1 so that was cool because Chenyin, JayJay, Ben and Edwin were all in Ledang. Got settled into our bunks and all and spent the first night in Lumut.
SKIP TO START OF SEA EXPEDITION BECAUSE I CANNOT REMEMBER ANYTHING. 28/02
First day of sea expedition was thankfully a short journey of like, 5km? We kayaked together as a group, with JayJay and Chenyin our expedition leaders, and me and Limeng volunteered to be sweepers cuz we were afraid I would get seasick so we stayed at the back haha. Luckily the dizziness medication from Dr Lim worked, though only for about half the journey, but I managed to get myself through it!! ALSO, our group set a new record of 5km in 45mins so like, DO WE ROCK OR WHAT?
Camped overnight there, setting up the tents and all. Started a fire to cook lunch, and Ledang’s wok caught fire and broke. After lunch we did rappelling down this HUGE rock/cliff thing, and it was super fun! Cooked dinner and had loads of free time. The whole campsite was infested with monkeys and they were probably unhappy that we were there so they surrounded us and threw things down from the treetops HAHA. I heard someone calling “Maggie… Maggie” while sitting by the beach, but when I shouted “Yeah?”, no one responded. O.O So that was bloody freaky and I told Ashraf, who then decided that he would call me Maggie for the rest of the OBM trip, to scare me. Once it got dark, there wasn’t really much we could do. Ashraf was going around with his stupid headlight thing and whispering “Maggie… Maggie..”. Then Huang Can scared people because when she put the torchlight under her face she really looked like Ju-on or something. James ended up hugging Edwin, and then Edwin hugged James. It was freaking comical because the guys had bigger reactions than the girls. After all that, all of us made a campfire and sat around it waiting for our instructors to arrive. We played a game, with everyone having to say one line, and then the next person would have to continue with a story. That was fun and pointless because our first story became a fight between Justina and Chenyin over Jay Chou. Then Edwin started trying to make the story sick. Finally the instructors came and talked for abit. We were left to go to sleep but I couldn’t sleep. For some reason, all of us in the girls’ tent woke up at 12plus (when we went to sleep at like 11), because we got mosquito bites everywhere. We all thought it was morning when it wasn’t!! Went back to sleep for about 2 hours then I thought I felt something in my hair so I got up and then didn’t dare to go back to sleep and no one else was awake ): Went over to the other girl’s tent and slept there for the night. It was bloooody cold and we had no blankets or anything.
SECOND DAY
Woke up and had to start packing up and preparing lunch. The sun didn’t come out yet so the few of us who were in charge of food had to make 144 sandwiches in the dark under the light of torchlights. Set off for our second day of the sea expedition. My medication dissolved in the rain so luckily James had dizzy medicine as well. Me and Limeng had our own strategy of rushing all the way then resting. Most of the time he was the one paddling but HE INSISTED OK. When I called for a rest he wouldn’t want to rest so yah. And I peeled oranges for us! Haha. When we finally reached back to OBM campus we were all freaking tired and wanted to die. Limeng was a (Y) kayaking partner, we managed to be the 2nd kayak to reach the campus after rushing through the whole last stretch and not bothering to be sweeper anymore. After clearing all our kayaks and stuff, we had about 3 hours rest before we had to go for dinner and start preparing for our Land expedition the next day.
(OK BREAK HERE I POST ABOUT LAND EX WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT.)
